Pixel Climber
Notes
Pixel Climber is my submission for the Kenney Jam, 2026.
This is the 2nd ever game project I have attempted, and I am very grateful to both Kenney and Kay for providing so many assets to use in this Game Jam! Check the in-game credits for more details on which have been used!
****** KNOWN BUGS ******
- Currently the portal items in the game are mostly bugged, and result in a game crash. PLEASE avoid portals at all cost! (You don't need to enter them to beat the game, and doing so will most likely ruin your run!!)
- Zoom level on 4k displays is a little... extreme. Results in VERY small fonts within the UI, and an unintentionally zoomed out gameplay experience in-level.
About Pixel Climber
Pixel Climber is intended as a rage-game, where 1 bad jump can send you tumbling back down towards the start of the game. The higher you scale, the bigger the risk in every jump! The level has a couple surprises scattered through that may not be quite as they first appear! I appreciate this might not be to everyone's liking, and may just be seen as unnecessarily frustrating, apologies if that is the case for yourself!!
There is 4 possible characters to pick from when playing the game, each having their own stats and perks to try and facilitate different play styles. If you're the daring speedster who needs no safety rails - Sproutly is your guy! Or prefer to take your time and double-check every jump for maximum safety - Grubbins has you sorted! Try them all out!
Your time taken is tracked atop the screen, and acts as a 'score' for you to compare against friends! Who beat the game the fastest, or see just how fast they quit out in a rage!
Controls
Pixel Climber uses very basic controls, and is designed for mouse & keyboard play.
Move Left - A
Move Right - D
Jump - Spacebar
And that's about it!

I'm crap at platformers and can't finish no matter how hard i try, but still, it's nicely done with the sound, design, and all that.
This is great! Love it small scale, don’t change that. Controller support would be amazing, and slightly darker ambience. If you make these changes give me a poke on Twitch and I’ll play this again!
maybe would feel better with coyote time. but maybe that would make the game easier
Thank you for trying it out, and leaving feedback! Coyote time is a suggestion a few people have made - and is something I looked into in the final few hours before submission.. but as you've rightly mentioned - it made completing the game far too easy! :( The intention of the project is a rage-game, so I opted to keep it as challenging as I could! (Though I feel that has been terribly communicated by myself so I might update the description to mention that..)
I really like how you built the aesthetic.
Thank you for your comment! I am glad you like to look of the game!
I will check your entry out today also! :)
